Activities Volunteer, Lindisfarne Court, Darlington

Lindisfarne Court is home to 13 people within three connecting bungalows in Darlington with a staff team on hand to provide 24-hour care and support. We aim to ensure that people are encouraged and enabled to make their own choices and decisions in as many aspects of their lives as possible.

Main tasks

Support people who use the service with planned activities outside of the home (this will be with a member of staff)

Participate in 1-1 activities with people who use the service within the home, eg sensory time, hair and beauty, listening to music, arts and crafts, interactive games and reading

Plan, promote and encourage participation in activities.

What skills/qualities are needed?

Good organisational and planning skills

Good interpersonal skills and enjoy talking to people of all ages and with a variety of interests and backgrounds

Ability to encourage and motivate

When is an activities volunteer needed?

Any time of the day, evening or weekend. Whatever will suit you and the service.

What do we offer our volunteers?

Any necessary training required

A designated member of staff to share any concerns or issues with

Free DBS check

Reimbursement of travel / meal expenses incurred whilst volunteering

What we won’t ask you to do

Take the lead on a shift

Attempt any task or activity you don’t feel comfortable or able to do

Work alone in the service
