A Moment in Hospitaller History  

On Monday 1 February 2010 the West European Province of Saint John of God was created at a special ceremony held at Emmaus House in Dublin. During this ceremony the Irish and English Provinces were formally suppressed. This was symbolised by the extinguishing of two candles and the lighting of new candle by the Prior General to mark the birth of our new Province.   Following the ceremony, the Brothers elected Brother Laurence Kearns as Provincial of the new Province. Brothers Stanislaus Neild, Fintan Brennan-Whitmore, Gregory McCrory and Mark Morgan were elected as the Provincial Council.   Brother Donatus Forkan, Prior General, acknowledged and affirmed Brothers Laurence Kearns and John Martin for their contribution during their terms in office and particularly their inspired and unwavering leadership, culminating in the formation of the West European Province of Saint John of God.   Brother Laurence Kearns, OH:
